Okay. I see what you're saying now. I had Skype configured a bit
differently. I didn't uncheck double clicking makes a call because that
allows just hitting Enter on a contact to call.
After unchecking that the second press of Escape does close the program.
But it doesn't leave it in Task manager. So I can open it back up with
no problem.
The solution to the second Escape key press is to close the window with
Control-W. Then you return to the main Skype window and Alt-S Skype, L
Close, will put it in the SysTray.
And for what it's worth, I don't run Skype at start up and I removed the
IE update bug. Although, if I remember right, the IE update didn't cause
the problem if Skype was run at start up.

I don't have the Escape key problem.
You can minimize it to the SysTray with Alt-S Skype, L Close.
Then use the Window-Eyes Insert-S key combination to open the SysTray
view, select Skype, Alt-R to right click, and the context menu will give
you the options to actually close the program, open the window again,
and so on.

messing with the notification area. Just avoid pressing escape twice.
