Hello,

You might also try creating a new Thunderbird profile and starting over. To do 
this:

1.  Close TB.
2.  Press Windows-R to open the Run dialog.
3.  Enter the following exactly as written followed by Enter:
thunderbird -P
4.  Add a new profile. The name doesn't matter.
5.  Set up your email accounts.

Run with the new setup for a day or two, and that should give you enough 
information to determine whether your lockups are caused by a bad profile or 
Thunderbird itself. Also, if you are running Thunderbird 31 be sure you are 
using the latest build. There were some significant performance issues with the 
initial 31.0 that have mostly been addressed.
