Hi Richard.

Agree with all of your comments.

With respect to the Braille Edge: it matches with Window-eyes far more
efficiently and reliably than does the Focus. The most significant shortcoming
is that the hot key labels are incorrect. However - most (if not all) can be
assigned as you might prefer, and direct computer braille input is possible
without too much fuss.

The focus is a tragedy amongst braille displays in my book. It has so much
potential to actually be the best possible display from amongst the ones I know
about, but it has been the victim of company rivalry and competition rather
than the trail blazer for improved braille support regardless of screen reader.

Hope this helps.

Vaughan.

Subject: braille displays

Hi;
I have to second the comment made by another user that it would be nice if gw
improved their braille display support. I am using a focus 40 and although I
can get it to work a number of the buttons don't do anything. Although lots of
manufacturers are rather short sighted, if I was selling a braille display I'd
want it to work well with as many screen readers as possible. There are some
situations, especially work situations that speech just isn't going to be
acceptible and you need braille instead. Has anyone used the hims braille edge
with window-eyes? It was my display of choice but this bargain was to good to
pass on. Do we know if developers are taking any of our babbling seriously?
