Hi Chris,
I feel that people should have the right to run whatever software they wish on their systems. But for many of us, at least in the workplace, that decision is made by others, and can not be negotiated. But what troubles me is that at least in the past, there were issues running WE with McAfee. This is sad because, for example, most Federal government agencies use McAfee, which basically means that WE is not an option for these employees. Personally I use GData total security and it is very accessible and effective. I actually learned about it because one of our consumers mailed us with a question on it and I gave it a shot to try and figure out their issue. Many work sites, such as mine use it, and you may find yourself in situations where you do not have a choice in the matter. Window-eyes saw it as a web page and I was able to check the items I wanted to remove and hit the remove button. Note: using Window-eyes 8.4 I was not able to remove McAfee from the system. Dell likes to put the ubitiquous McAfee programs on it. Now, McAfee seems pretty hard to remove, without sighted assistance. For the most part, the uninstall procedure wasn't accessible with Window-Eyes. I had to install the demo of the Shark to use the Convenient OCR feature to get around the dialogs enough to remove the McAfee software. Anyone know of a faster, easier way to accomplish this? It's gone from this configuration, but, this has got to be a valid question for anyone buying a new Dell system. Thanks! If you reply to this message it will be delivered to the original sender only.
