Hi Rick,

Well, you've alerted me to something I hadn't considered, namely, that the
text actually changes appearance.
Having no vision, I wouldn't have known, and, given the lack of
documentation by AI Squared, it does not seem to be something worth
mentioning.
My guess is that the initial F8 press is placing a marker in the HTML text,
and, in normal circumstances, does not change the appearance of the text
onscreen.
Perhaps your application is altering the appearance of the text, and not WE?

Hth,

Rod

Subject: RE: WE Beta 3 - Selecting text in XML Copy

Hello Rod:

I understand that a new method using F8 has been implemented. I was under
the impression that this was specific to browsers. The old method of copying
using the shift and arrow keys works just fine in programs like Word,
Notepad, etc. In fact, when I hit F8 in the XML Copy program, it brings up a
dialog for that program rather than starting a copy operation.

The problem that I am describing is not that the method for selecting text
using shift and arrow keys does not work. It does. What I am complaining
about is the fact that the text, as it is being selected, is not spoken.
When slecting text in Word, Notepad, etc. using the shift and arrow keys,
text is spoken as it is slected or unselected, along with the word selected
or unselected. With XML Copy, there is only silence. The text is actually
being selected (and with my limited vision, I see it highlighted) and then
control C works to select it.

The question is: Is this a problem with WE or is this just a poor or
non-standard implementation within the XML Copy program?

Rick

Hi Rick,

Please consult the readme for the beta to learn that a new text selection
method has been implemented, namely, pressing F8 to start the selection,
moving to the end of the selection, press F8 again, pressing Enter on the
Copy button, and then pasting it into your document or location as required.
Note also that, for now, within Mozilla products like Firefox and
Thunderbird, Control-C is also required after pressing Enter on the Copy
button.

Rod

Subject: WE Beta 3 - Selecting text in XML Copy

I am using the free program XML Copy to edit XML and XML Schema files. When
selecting text (using the shift and arrow keys) the text being selected is
not spoken. This makes it difficult to select text.

I know the text is being selected since I have some vision and copy does
work.

System details:
Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit
ZoomText 10.0x
WE Beta 3 (same in Beta 2)

If this is a problem with the actual program, does anyone know of a better
smart XML editor?

Rick
