Hi Tony, I don't have Windows 8.1, and so I can't guide you precisely how to do this, but I'm thinking that when your notification area is being flashed by WLM when an email arrives, this causes focus to be lost, and so my suggestion is to hide the WLM program icon in the notification area. I know that in Windows 7 you can set the status of any notification area icon to "Hide icon and notifications." Try this for the WLM icon and see what happens on subsequent email arrivals.

It's as if Window-eyes goes silent when visiting certain webpages, Facebook's regular site being a prime example. For me, other times when I visit a web page, Window-eyes actually just shuts down without any kind of error message, I don't know if you could call that a memory leak or what the propper term for it is, but it does happen especially since the final version of Window-eyes 9 came out. I didn't bring this up til now, only because I wasn't sure if it was something on my particular pc causing the problem, or if it's Window-eyes itself at fault. Sometimes IE will even crash, whereas with other screenreaders, it seems to be ok. So, something definitely seems to be happening and I see what you mean now. ....
