Vicky,

I'm sure not an expert on the calculator and probably won't be in this lifetime. <smile>

That's a great explanation (with example) both on how to save and recall a memory, and also how to get the data into a document.

I saved your message and example for future reference.

Great job!

Don

Subject: RE: [GWN] calculator, once more

Hi All,

Well, grin, might as well try my hand at the calculator, too. Guess all we can do is keep trying to figure out ways to use its memory options.

First, although I know I do have an ailing VS battery or something, or maybe I misunderstood Raul's message about the calculator memory being cleared once the calculator program was closed. For, on the VS, I was able to close the calculator, and even do a reset with the button on the back of the unit, and my items were still stored in the list when I did the backspace with r to recall them.

Second, when I tried to save something in the calculator memory to insert into a later calculation, I did the following and it seemed to work: One, From the main menu, press u for utilities and then c for calculator.
Two, type 900 plus 100 and press enter to hear 1000.
Three, type backspace with s and give your calculation result a name, such as checking, and then press enter and hear the VS say save completed. Four, and just for good measure, exit the calculator program, and perhaps even do a reset with the button on the back.
Five, After the reset, go back into the calculator with u and then c.
Six, type 100 plus and then type backspace with r and you should hear then the recall items dialog with the name of checking spoken, so press the enter key once to hear it spoken again as it is being entered into your calculation and then press enter again to hear it actually do the calculation and give the result of 1100.

Third, to insert a calculation into a document, I did the following:
One, Go to the calculator with u and then c as described before.
Two, type 5 times 5 and press enter.
Three, type backspace with s and give this item a name such as lunch and press enter.
Four, Exit the calculator and then go and start typing your document.
Five, Then go back to the calculator with the f 1 and then u and then c. Six, Press backspace with r and you should hear the first of the list of items in your calculator memory, such as checking one of two. Seven, down arrow to hear the second item in the list, such as lunch two of two and press enter i to copy it to the clipboard, or you can even tab to the display detail and down arrow once to yes first and then continue tabbing back around to the list to see your calculation details before copying to the clipboard if you like. Eight, press f 2 and f 3 to get back into your document, and then press enter with v to paste the result of your calculation, or just close the calculator and go back to the document and press the enter with v to paste the results.

Subject: [GWN] Calculator, Once More

Hello Sharon, Chuck, and List:
I am looking at the calculator once more. This is what I have
discovered about the memory. From the Main Menu, press U. Press Enter at the calculator. Enter your number, but what I am finding is, you would need to say something like 282.-4. Press Enter twice. Press Backspace S, and a letter for your memory. Press Enter. When you do another calculation, when you are in the calculator menu, press R with Enter. Your memory will be recalled. You have to remember that number to do the next calculation. After you do your calculation, and go back to the memory, you will be asked if you want to replace the result. I can't see that you can do exactly what you'd like to do, as in adding to memory, subtracting, and the things you'd do on a normal calculator. Somehow, I feel like I'm not making much sense, smile, not even to me.
