The file actually doesn't close, if you go back to the word processor it should still be there. I hit f1 and go to different places all of the time. Works nicely.

mash F1 and letter F from your open file.

From your open file, mash F 2 and F 3 together to File Manager. Now you
can
use your backspace and/or  arrows to find your file. Also, from the file
manager you can mash space F and type in part of the file name and hit
enter
and the VS  will search for it.
