The selecting of text is pretty easy. Hit enter plus b at the start of the section you want to delete, move to the end of the section you want to delete and hit space bar plus d. You will be asked if you are sure, just hit y for yes or n for no. You could hit enter plus b at the end, then go to the beginning and delete as well.
