Hi List. I recently purchased a BrailleSense Plus Qwerty and I am now trying to set up activesync via Bluetooth with my Sony laptop. The Laptop is running Windows Vista Business with Jaws version 10 as my screen reader. I have Windows Mobile Device Centre on the laptop. I have successfully synchronised the BrailleSense with the laptop via USB but am having problems when trying to set it up via Bluetooth.
I have managed to pair the two devices and the laptop reports that the BrailleSense is connected when I access the Bluetooth information from the icon in the system tray. The BrailleSense tells me that the activesync service is connected and says "connection succeeded" or something like that. However the Windows Mobile Device Centre says the BrailleSense is not connected. The Windows Mobile Device Centre is set to allow a Bluetooth connection under connection settings. I did notice when the laptop gives details for the BrailleSense under the list of Bluetooth devices that it called it a computer and said something about the service class being a Bluetooth serial port and that the port was called Com40. I did not tell it that I wanted it to connect as a Bluetooth serial port and in fact the laptop never gave me a choice as to anything to do with serial ports and so on during the pairing of the two devices. I'm not sure whether this is relevant and I have no idea whether it can be changed or how I might change it if this is what is causing the problem. So to summarise both laptop and BrailleSense are telling me they are connected and the BrailleSense says that the connection to the Activesync service succeeded but the Windows Mobile Device centre tells me the BrailleSense is not connected and nothing happens. I know that it is not synchronising as a couple of new appointments which I entered on the BrailleSense do not show up on the computer. All other services on the BrailleSense are disconnected so there is no issue there. Any suggestions on how I can get this to work would be greatly appreciated. I'm probably doing something wrong but am not sure what. Kind Regards Janine Smith.
