Hello. GW SenseNav is currently only authorized for 2007 maps. Once we have an updated SenseNav, it will work with newer maps, but we don't have further information on this at this time. For any technical support regarding SenseNav, you will have to check with your dealer whom you purchased SenseNav from.

Many thanks.

hi if i have paid for the upgraded maps for the braille note then is the gps on
the braille sense is upgraded and can use the upgraded maps will i have to pay
again for the same map upgrade for the braille sense. at the moment my pk is
using the updated maps where the braille sense is using the older maps. i have
been away for a while and may have missed an upgrade for the braille sense gps.
i do understand though here in the uk we are using different sofftware just
like the booksense but we have no uk list for the braille sense products. if
there is an upgrade we do not here of it the only thing here is to do an online
upgrade and if it is there then you get it thank god we have a uk booksense
list as it keeps uk customers in touch with what is happening. i also do
understand that gwmicro cannot look after uk customers with regards to the
braille sense in the uk but feel that with the braille sense plus here in the
uk it is difficult for us with the two verssions of the s
offtware on the braille sense. it would be far better to have it like the
braille note and just have one sofftware version. cheers.

Hello. I will pass along your suggestions, however keep in mind that the
GPS software and maps, while they run on the Sense notetakers, are a
Sendero and GW product. So you are correct, if there is a charge for
newer maps, a person would be able to have a choice to stick with
current SenseNav while still upgrading the firmware of the Sense
notetaker. Also keep in mind that even though there have been no charges
for firmware updates to the Sense notetakers, this is not a guarantee.

The Braillenote family of notetakers has their own software, but the GPS
from Sendero is also separate and customers from Sendero also have to
pay for newer map upgrades even if they don't pay for newer software
firmeware builds for the Braillenote itself.

I hope this helps, or at least, that it makes sense.

Many thanks.

Hi Raul and List,

You would think that upgrading to new maps for the Sense Nav. would be free
after paying the one time fee for the software. You'd think with it being a
part of the Braille Sense that upgrading to the next version of maps would be
free, because we don't have to pay to upgrade the Braille Sense to the most
current firm ware yet. That's one of the reasons I believe that a lot of
people choose to purchase the Braille Sense over other note takers. Plus, they
have to pay for expensive SMA's if customers are Jaws users like myself, and
have to pay other yearly fees for Bookshare, and other services. So I really
hope that Sendaro and GW Micro won't make us pay a fee in order to upgrade the
maps for the Sense Nav. Granted, we as consumers have no control over this, so
if they do decide to charge us a fee, either we'll have to be forced to pay it,
not upgrade, or not use the product. Just some thoughts I have on this topic.

Sarah

ar While you can go to www.mysendero.com to get the maps, you cannot get
ar updated maps for SenseNav since it's still using 2007 maps. We are
ar testing a new version which will have many new features, enhancements,
ar and bug fixes, including 2009 maps. However we don't have further
ar details on when it will be available or the cost to upgrade.
ar
ar Many thanks.
