Hi, I use a Linksys WRT54G2 broadband wireless-g router with comcast. This is a combination four-port ethernet plus a wireless access point. It has wireless B and G, and works well with the Braille Sense. It's very easy to set up because its DHCP client will query for your comcast modem and automatically connect it into the network. The system defaults to an open, unsecured network for the wireless side, and the Braille Sense will see it with no problem. I bought it a Radio Shack.
You should start by removing power from the modem and router. The basic setups are: Connect the ethernet cable from the modem to the router ethernet port furthers from the power receptacle. I don't know how it's labeled. Apply power to the router and modem. After about 30 seconds the system should be up and connected the modem into the local network. You can now fire up the Braille Sense and the Linksys wireless point should be visible among access point the BS might see. Select Linksys. You might have to do this several times before you hear the "connected" sound. You can now read the "check network status" information dialog. The IP address will be 192.168.1.n, where "n" might be anything from 100 to 150. This number depends on what the router's DHCP system assigned the Braille Sense. Right now my local IP is 192.168.1.105. This IP tends to remain the same until you cold-reset the router by using a pin to push the router's reset button: a hole next to the power connector. Once you're connected to the local network, you can use the web browser to make sure you have connectivity to the Internet. If you don't have connectivity, reset the modem, wait for 30 seconds and try again. The router has a web page at 192.168.1.1, and you use "admin" for both username and password to access the service with the Braille Sense. The web page is accessible enough, but you need to know what you're doing when making changes. Beware of routers that use graphics to denote items. After I got my router working, I changed the wireless system to have WEP security and wrote down the key the router generated for me. After saving the changes, I found the "linksys" item in the Braille Sense list, went to the advance dialog and entered the network key. Once you press OK, the BS will try to connect. Cross your fingers to hear the ding. Be patient! An email thing: Comcast blocks port 25 for SMTP on my network.
