Hi Nancy,
Okay, I'll try to explain this in simple language:
Try checking if your mother's computer and your work
router's security settings are right - WPA, WEP, no security. Also, try and see if you can connect to your network after turning off and restarting wireless card in the unit (Options Menu, then Wireless). For those who are trying to connect to WPA2security: I'm sorry to inform you that BSP's OS does not support it. This newer security seature was finalized in 2007 - too late (well, almost too late) for Windows CE 5.0 to support it. Also, it requires hardware support. There is a fix from Microsoft which addresses this issue; however, as a grand rule of computer hardware goes, "if there is a software that enables such and such feature, how can we use it on a hardware that does not support it?" Fortunately, I expect HIMS to come out with a brand new ROM image that incorporates this (for now, a competetor of ours has that security feature in the OS itself...). BTW, no Korean press release about Voice Sense QWERTY.
Cheers,
Joseph P.S. Was this simple for you?

Subject: [GWN] Question #2 Wireless Connection

My second question is somewhat harder to ask because I'm not very tech. savvy. Basically, I had someone install a router on my mother's computer and all I know about it is that it was a "Trend." I've been able to connect intermittently because sometimes the BS seems to find an access point and sometimes not. I read the emails recently from someone else re: trouble connecting with a certain kind of router and forwarded all that info to my computer guy. He suggested I try to connect at work where I also set up a profile to see if the BS could find an access point there. It seems to be intermittent there also -- could connect yesterday but not today and even from the same place in the building.

My computer guy said he could try checking the settings at my mother's to see if that has anything to do with whatever's happening but since it's happening at work also, I'm wondering if it's something with the BS itself..

I've also had to reset the BS several times as I learn and try these new things. I don't know if that's typical or if it's me doing something it doesn't like so it just quits on me or what.

I'd really appreciate any thoughts on any of this.
Nancy
