Hi, Not anymore; for more info, I strongly suggest checking out the following listserv: Blind Programming, My Access, Blind Geek Zone, etc. Although blindness notetaker is a MUST for some people, the consumer trend says otherwise. There are things that notetakers are good at, while other things are useful under smartphone. After all, notetakers are computers themselves, running almost the same OS as smartphones although using a differetn user interface on top of it. Also, the question of external screen reader depends on OS - there are phones which has screen readers built-in whcih works extremely well with third-party apps - and works with Bluetooth braille displays (if and only if HIMS would confirm support for sense family). I don't like depending on cell phones for notetakers because cell phones change too much and they are fragile. Besides, you have to depend on external screen readers for using them and every time you have to change phones, you must install a screenreader.
