This is also synthesizer dependent. You could always try a period or comma. Also, know that pauses are relative. What's a short pause to you might be a long pause to others, and the other way around.

    Hello Listers and especially GW,
    I wonder if it is possible to creat scripts which will enable the
    user to take control of the silence times caused by the punctuation
    marks. Namely, when Window-Eyes sees and passes the period or comma
    characters to the synthisizer, is the speech pause completely
    controled by the synthesizer, or does Window-Eyes determine the
    pause time? If it is possible to control this pause through
    scripting (IE to make it shorter), which objects and properties
    should I focus on?
