doesnt seem as slow now. somewhat but not as slow. thought that might be the issue so did a full reinstall

    Pidgin uses GTK and is therefore completely inaccessible in Windows.
    If you are interested in a multiprotocol IM client, I've scripted
    Miranda IM from www.miranda-im.org/. A guide on setting it up is at
