Sound Forge, compared to Gold Wave, is like comparing a Catilac to a Chevy, both have their uses, but one has many more options while the other doesn't do things quite as well. In fact, without knowing either package, Sound Forge has a much lower learning curve since the highlighting of items is like a word processor, where GW's methods are completely different. The advantages of scripting or at least hot spot helpers for those who understand as to how to take advantage of their use would be great particularly in the areas of adjusting sliders for equalization, noise reduction adjustment sliders, and, though ways can be made to work if you know where to look and how to use the advantages of Window-Eyes's keys to get there, finding the items in SF10 pro as not as easy as it was in earlier incarnations of SF, though again, it can be done. I began with SF when it was still a product owned by Sonic Foundry, at version 4.5, and then, 5.0, where Jonathan Mosen's tutorials got me thoroughly up and ;running with the software, showing me how word processing techniques are used to highlight audio, (as in Studio Recorder from APH, by the way) and since then I have been using SF for all my editing needs. The scripting idea would be to help smooth out transitions for those who don't know what to expect from the screens for adjusting such sliders as how much to decrease the sampling of the noise, and, again, the handling of the different kinds of equalizers available in SF. They are not just graphic, but paragraphic, and parametric. Significant enough are the differences and abilities of the two other than graphic to warrant investigation by someone who knows scripting and / or the hot spot methods to make much easier to figure out the controls.
thanks! I hope this may help some. Curtis Delzer. Or, is it that people want it scripted, so as to get certain features more easily operated? Kind of a bit confused as to what the whole discussion is trying to accomplish. :) Put in straight words: If a WE user spend his money on the SoundForge, will he have wasted his bank account and time? Or, would he be able to do some activity, but end up being lost in other activities. How much is possible by a bit of mousing, use of set files, or even use of the hotspot app? Would have been interesting to have some more feedback from users who has had their hands on SoundForge, and who could actually shed a bit more light on what the real problem is. Sometimes people ask for a certain software to be scripted, simply because they don't want to meddle with the mouse, or label some graphics; or maybe don't have the knowledge and skills to do so. But is that the problem of SoundForge? Asking because I have been using GoldWave for a few editing projects, but don't exactly find their software fully professional in all parts. Yet, I don't want to waste time, money and resources on other software, unless it really will benefit. So if anyone could tell a bit about to what extend SoundForge will be useful right out of the box, or with an affordable amount of endeavor, it would have been received with gratefulness. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tom Kingston" <tom.kings...@charter.net> To: <gw-scripting@gwmicro.com> Sent: Friday, September 02, 2011 7:33 PM Subject: Re: Sound Forge, was: scripts for yahoo messenger > Thanks, Tim.
