Hi Rick, One interface I remember for the backup program had you specify "jobs". a job had the files/disks to be backed up, the exceptions which were never to be backed up, and the destination drive and/or folder. As for what was to be backed up; it was essentially a listbox which you kept adding file specifications to. Each time you clicked "add", it used the standard "file open" dialog to get from you the drive or file/folder to be backed up". when you clicked "ok", it added it to the list. It also let you build a list of exceptions which were never to be backed up (if you chose the c: drive, it would automatically add the recycled dir and the temp dir as exceptions which were not to be backed up). Choosing the exceptions also used the standard file open dialog, and so did choosing the destination for the backup. By default, backup source and exceptions also meant all sub-dirs under them. There were a few other pieces of info to specify for the job; when it was to run, whether it backed up every file or just those using the archive bit, whether it ran at a lower priority in the background, things like that. hth, Chip

My first task is to backup and restore folders and files. My question to those of you who have used software to do this is how they get what folders and files to backup from you. Second question is how they get the Target computer, external drive or shared folder information from you. Finally, if you used an online backup system which one and was it totally accessible? I want to make this project app as universal as possible without going nuts about it so would like to know how other vendors have handled getting which files and folders to backup and to where they are to be backed up. Thanks: Rick USA
