To me, at least, WE, as it handles years, ain't broken.  So I see no need 
for fixing anything in that regard.
There is no right or wrong way, for instance, in saying the current year 
as 
"twenty twelve" or "2 thousand twelve" or "2 thousand and twelve".
So in absence to a consistent stream of a complaint, I'd not concern 
myself over that.
