I am also using GWT ext with GAE and to compress files, one option is to
compress your python files.
Use this link:
http://appengine-cookbook.appspot.com/recipe/package-libs-as-zipfiles-and-import-them/?id=ahJhcHBlbmdpbmUtY29va2Jvb2tyjgELEgtSZWNpcGVJbmRleCI4YWhKaGNIQmxibWRwYm1VdFkyOXZhMkp2YjJ0eUZBc1NDRU5oZEdWbmIzSjVJZ1pRZVhSb2IyNE0MCxIGUmVjaXBlIjlhaEpoY0hCbGJtZHBibVV0WTI5dmEySnZiMnR5RkFzU0NFTmhkR1ZuYjNKNUlnWlFlWFJvYjI0TTYM

i use it to compress my un-frequently used library files.
If anyone has a solution to reduce no of files of Ext then it would be great
for me also. :)
