Make your GeoTIFF from a MAP containing the grid you want and it should turn
out just fine.
Use the Map/Export... menu and select GeoTIFF as your output type. You will
need to play with
the resolution to trade off quality vs. file size. I usually end up with
around 100 dpi or more if you
have a surround you want to make readable - otherwise, for a grid only, much
less resolution
should do well.
