G-Nation, The Admiral is still out with his shoulder, so once again Number One will be posting the ride for this Saturday. The weather looks good for the morning not too, too cold with the lows in the upper 40’s for a 9:00am start of the ride, so let get out and ride!! Be sure to print out a cue sheet to help me keep everyone on the route. We have only done this route a couple of times and the route name speaks for itself. Again the ride start time will be 9:00am.
If you get a chance be sure to drop Tony a line or swing by the Trek store for a visit, I am sure he would enjoy the company and be sure to talk it up on how much good riding he is missing!!! Maria has already posted the "B" game plan and Mike has posted for the Sunday Beginners ride. Specs below: SATURDAY RIDE: 12/20/08 MEETING PLACE: Blue Jay Point (BJP) (Directions: http://www.raleighgyros.com/locations.htm TIME: Saturday 12/20/08 @ 9:00am RIDE DISTANCE: A Group (~ 46 miles) PACE: A (17-19 mph) ROUTE: Lost Boys Route CUE SHEET:http://www.raleighgyros.com/cue_sheets.htm SUNDAY RIDE: Kim's Recovery Ride leaves from Blue Jay Point @ 9:30am. (old route ~40 miles - 16-17mph pace) THE PLAN: One or more groups will leave with the intent of riding as a group at a target pace. We will try to cover the same routes, albeit a shorter distance for the slower group, so if you're struggling or want to ride at an easier pace, you can move back to a slower group. If you're already in the slowest group, the ride leader will check to make sure you can make your way back alone or with another volunteer. You'll know within the first 7 miles whether or not you're strong enough to maintain the pace. The general rule is that you should be able to maintain at least a 19+mph pace for the A Group, 18mph pace for 40-50 miles with the B+ Group or a 16mph pace for 30-40 miles with the B Group, when considering which group to ride with. If you can not maintain these paces, then it is suggested that you consider the C/B- Sunday ride. (Please refer to the link above). Each group should make a concerted effort to keep the group together but there will always be those who want to pick up the pace on the return. It is more appropriate to do this the last 5-7 miles of a ride. The short hammer sessions, that are always inevitable during our rides, will not be affected.
