Hello Gyros,
My name is David and I just signed up this week. Like all of you I was
dreaming about riding in nice weather as it was snowing.
I am not going to be able to attend the Beginner ride this Sunday as I have
family in town.
If there will be a ride on Super Bowl Sunday, I am in!
Have a good weekend!
-David

Subject: [Gyros: 12230] Saturday A Ride

G-Nation

Tony is being lazy since he has not been in charge of post a ride in awhile
so once again I am posting the ride for Saturday. The weather looks pretty
good for Saturday morning with lows in the mid 40s, so let plan on starting
at 9:00am, get in some quality miles because if you are like me with work
and the weather tihs week I have had little chance to ride. There is a
small chance of rain 20 to 30% in the morning so either Tony or I will post
a weather update by 7:00am Saturday morning. The plans for Saturday are as
follows:

Maria has posted her "B" game plan.

Specs below:

SATURDAY RIDE:

MEETING PLACE: St. Francis of Assisi Church (Directions:
http://www.raleighgyros.com/locations.htm)
TIME: Saturday 1/24 @ 9:00am
RIDE DISTANCE: A Group (~52 miles)
PACE: A (18-19mph)
ROUTE: The Big Snow Hill Chill
CUE SHEET:http://www.raleighgyros.com/cue_sheets.htm

SUNDAY RIDE:

Kim's Recovery Ride leaves from Blue Jay Point @ 9:30am. (38 miles -
16-17mph pace)

Mike has posted for the Gyro Beginner Ride for Sunday.

THE PLAN:
One or more groups will leave with the intent of riding as a group at a
target pace. We will try to cover the same routes, albeit a shorter
distance for the slower group, so if you're struggling or want to ride at an
easier pace, you can move back to a slower group. If you're already in the
slowest group, the ride leader will check to make sure you can make your way
back alone or with another volunteer. You'll know within the first 7 miles
whether or not you're strong enough to maintain the pace. The general rule
is that you should be able to maintain at least a 19+mph pace for the A
Group, 18mph pace for 40-50 miles with the B+ Group or a 16mph pace for
30-40 miles with the B Group, when considering which group to ride with. If
you can not maintain these paces, then it is suggested that you consider the
C/B- Sunday ride.

(Please refer to the link above).

Each group should make a concerted effort to keep the group together but
there will always be those who want to pick up the pace on the return. It
is more appropriate to do this the last 5-7 miles of a ride. The short
hammer sessions, that are always inevitable during our rides, will not be
affected.

OTHER NOTES: None

Thanks, Bert
