G-Men & Women, For the A ride on Saturday, I have had a request to do Range Road so that's the route we'll take. We'll do a variation of "Open Range" so the cue sheet on our website will NOT work for you. I have mapped out the route below.
The starting point will be from St. Francis Church and we will be leaving at 7:30am since the overnight temps will be very mild. Here is the schedule for the week: SATURDAY RIDE (5/23): (A GROUP - Tony) MEETING PLACE: St. Francis of Assisi Church - (Directions: http://www.raleighgyros.com/locations.htm) TIME: Saturday 5/23 @ 7:30am RIDE DISTANCE: 74 miles PACE: 20-21mph LSD ROUTE: A variation of "Open Range" CUE SHEET: No Cue Sheet (See Map below) http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=2842177 (B GROUP - Maria) Maria is out of town this weekend and will not be leading. If someone wants to lead a B ride, please post all your specs by Friday. SUNDAY RIDE (5/24): 1. Kim's Recovery Ride leaves from Blue Jay Point @ 8am. (38 miles @ 17-18mph pace) (NEW TIME CHANGE TO 8AM) 2. Mike's Gyro Touring Ride - Mike will post all the information for this ride. MONDAY RIDE (5/25) MEMORIAL DAY: This is Memorial Day so I don't know if there will be airde today unless Hal posts. Hal's Ride leaves from the Trek Store on Durant Road & Raven Ridge Roads. TIME @ 6pm. (NEW TIME CHANGE TO 6PM) DISTANCE: 25-30 miles. PACE @ 18mph (NOTE: THIS RIDE WILL BE ON ONLY IF SOMEONE POSTS TO LEAD) TUESDAY RIDE (5/26): Rick's Ride leaves from St Francis of Assisi Church. TIME @ 6pm. DISTANCE: 30-32 miles PACE @ 20-21mph (Rick will post any changes regarding this ride). WEDNESDAY (5/27): Andy's Ride leaves from St Francis of Assisi Church. TIME @ 5:45pm. DISTANCE based on available light but will work up to 39 miles. PACE @ 20-21mph. THURSDAY (5/28) Dave's Ride leaves from the Trek Store on Durant & Raven Ridge Roads. TIME @ 6pm. DISTANCE: 32 miles. PACE @ 17-18mph All ride locations can be found on our website @ http://www.raleighgyros.com/locations.htm THE PLAN: One or more groups will leave with the intent of riding as a group at a target pace. We will try to cover the same routes, albeit a shorter distance for the slower group, so if you're struggling or want to ride at an easier pace, you can move back to a slower group. If you're already in the slowest group, the ride leader will check to make sure you can make your way back alone or with another volunteer. You'll know within the first 7 miles whether or not you're strong enough to maintain the pace. The general rule is that you should be able to maintain at least a 19+mph pace for the A Group, 18mph pace for 40-50 miles with the B+ Group or a 16mph pace for 30-40 miles with the B Group, when considering which group to ride with. If you can not maintain these paces, then it is suggested that you consider the C/B- Sunday ride. (Please refer to the link above). Each group should make a concerted effort to keep the group together but there will always be those who want to pick up the pace on the return. It is more appropriate to do this the last 5-7 miles of a ride. The short hammer sessions, that are always inevitable during our rides, will not be affected. To find out more about pacelines, please read the link below. http://www.raleighgyros.com/training.htm Thanks, Tony --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you foolishly subscribed to the Gyro email group.
