Another point is that there are Tri atheletes that go out together for their
own rides and stay out of the group environment altogether. Besides the
training purpose of getting used to tri bars what is the benefit in a pace line
or a pack of bikers?

Tony makes a good point though I have ridden pacelines with aerobars , not in
a large group.

Also aerobars don't let you have the feedom to give appropriate hand signals
to the people behind you.

Right now, I am only riding my tri bike and due to my back injury am having
trouble with any time spent on my road bike greater then 20 mins. Slowly
working on this again.

  G's,

I have been told that some of you who are new to the club and maybe even new
to riding with groups and have areobars are using your aerobars while riding
the paceline. Please keep in mind that using your aerobars creates an unsafe
environment and could potentially cause an accident within the group. Riding
aerobars puts you at a disadvantage should you need to apply your brakes in a
hurry. It is also hard to ride a straight line and we all know what potential
hazzard that can be especially in a double paceline.

There is only one case when riding aerobars is ok and that is when you are
pulling up front and that is the only time it is allowed.

There are a lot of rules when riding a paceline that everyone should follow
and they are all there for a reason and that is for the safety of the group.

To read more about riding the paceline, here is a link from our website:

So please, let's be safe, stay out of those aerobars and enjoy the ride.

  Thanks,

  Tony
