G's Another Saturday without rain or snow!!! The temps look to be in the 30s at 9:00am. We had a good ride last Saturday and it looks to be a another great day to get in the saddle so get lets have a good turnout. I was very unhappy with the road conditions of New Light Road last weekend, so I want to stay away from that area until the road gets repaired. We will still need to pay attention to road conditions where ever we ride for the next few weeks.
Here are the specs: SATURDAY RIDE (2/27) (A & A- GROUPS - Bert) MEETING PLACE: St. Francis - (Directions: http://www.raleighgyros.com/locations.htm) TIME: Saturday 2/27 @ 9:00am RIDE DISTANCE: 57 miles PACE: 18mph ROUTE: Ellis Chapel Crusade CUE SHEET: http://www.raleighgyros.com/cue_sheets.htm NOTES: We ride and work together as a group. We encourage county line sprints. We DO stop for mechanicals. (B GROUP) Information to come but not sure from whom. SUNDAY RIDE (2/28): 1. Kim's Recovery Ride leaves from Blue Jay Point @ 9am. (38 miles @ 17-18mph pace) 2. Mike's Gyro Touring Ride (Mike will post ride details) MONDAY RIDE: Hal's Ride is cancelled for the season. TUESDAY RIDE: Rick's Ride cancelled (Temporarily) WEDNESDAY: Andy's Ride is cancelled for the season. THURSDAY: Dave's Ride is cancelled for the season. All ride locations can be found on our website @ http://www.raleighgyros.com/locations.htm THE PLAN: One or more groups will leave with the intent of riding as a group at a target pace. We will try to cover the same routes, albeit a shorter distance for the slower group, so if you're struggling or want to ride at an easier pace, you can move back to a slower group. If you're already in the slowest group, the ride leader will check to make sure you can make your way back alone or with another volunteer. You'll know within the first 7 miles whether or not you're strong enough to maintain the pace. The general rule is that you should be able to maintain at least a 19+mph pace for the A Group, 18mph pace for 40-50 miles with the B+ Group or a 16mph pace for 30-40 miles with the B Group, when considering which group to ride with. If you can not maintain these paces, then it is suggested that you consider the C/B- Sunday ride. (Please refer to the link above). Each group should make a concerted effort to keep the group together but there will always be those who want to pick up the pace on the return. It is more appropriate to do this the last 5-7 miles of a ride. The short hammer sessions, that are always inevitable during our rides, will not be affected.
