I disagree with both of you on this. I accept his apology. He sounded penitent to me. He got off on what he thought was a pretty good bit; realized that he offended cyclists; had the most famous cyclist in the world on his show (who, by the way, accepted his invite and his apology...which is good enough for me...), and, said he was sorry.
More good than bad will come out of this. Tony Kornheiser is a TV, radio jock who is in the business of entertaining within a talking format. Very difficult, and, when so much of their dialogue is improvisation, it is easy to say things that, in retrospect, were not all that smart. God knows I have gotten myself into trouble with my use of words!
