Hey Dave I did not know you were doing LP! Good luck! Safe travels and we'll look for a good post race report :)

Just thought I'd pass this along. I was in south Georgia last weekend, temps like forecast here this weekend. Rode with my old buddies from when I lived there. Thought they were crazy for a 6:15am start, but we rode 63 miles and were off the bike by 9:15 in time for a run. The early start time was a little rough, but finishing before 9:30 allowed us to go long and fairly hard. Heading to cooler temps at Lake Placid this weekend, highs in the 70's for Ironman Lake Placid. Looking forward to re-joining the Gyros rides when I get back. With the heat, I don't think anyone will be up too pushing hard nor will it make any sense. The route keeps us close to home so if anyone were to drop out it'll be easy to get back. > > (WAIVER IS ATTACHED - Please sign and give to your ride leader). > > The rides: > > SATURDAY RIDE (7/24) > > (A GROUP - Tony/Bert) > > MEETING PLACE: Shady Grove Church (Directions:http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=3814664) > TIME: Saturday 7/24 @ 7:30am > RIDE DISTANCE: 50 miles > PACE: 20-21mph > ROUTE: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=3899392 > CUE SHEET: None > NOTES: There will be hills where the climbers will be allowed to stretch their legs. > OTHER NOTES: This one is important - WE RIDE AND WORK TOGETHER AS A GROUP. > We encourage county line sprints. > We DO NOT wait for dropped riders so look at the map and/or cue sheets to figure out where you are. > We DO stop for mechanicals. > > (A- GROUP - Kim/Ed/Derek) > (No one to lead this weekend but can join the A group) > > (B GROUP - Leslie/Diana) > Information to come > > SUNDAY RIDE (7/25): > > 1. We will try to cover the same routes, albeit a shorter distance for the slower group, so if you're struggling or want to ride at an easier pace, you can move back to a slower group. If you're already in the slowest group, the ride leader will check to make sure you can make your way back alone or with another volunteer. You'll know within the first 7 miles whether or not you're strong enough to maintain the pace. The general rule is that you should be able to maintain at least a 19+mph pace for the A Group, 18mph pace for 40-50 miles with the B+ Group or a 16mph pace for 30-40 miles with the B Group, when considering which group to ride with. If you can not maintain these paces, then it is suggested that you consider the C/B- Sunday ride. (Please refer to the link above). > > Each group should make a concerted effort to keep the group together but there will always be those who want to pick up the pace on the return. It is more appropriate to do this the last 5-7 miles of a ride. The short hammer sessions, that are always inevitable during our rides, will not be affected. > > To find out more about pacelines, please read the link below. > > http://www.raleighgyros.com/training.htm > > Thanks, Tony > > Gyros Waiver & Liabillity Form.pdf > 15KViewDownload -- You received this message because you subscribed to the Gyro email group.
