Hello Gyro Family
In case you were wondering where my bright and smiley face has been
I'm here in Southern California visitng family where I'll be till the
29th.

I was lucky enough to have a friend secure a loaner bike for me which
has worked out perfectly. The day after I arrived a small group of us
ventured down to San Diego which is an amazing ride. We started from
Fullerton and ended up at the San Diego train station for a return
trip via Amtrak for only $24. For those of you familiar with the area
we went through Santiago Canyon/Mission Viejo/San Juan Capistrano/Dana
Point/Camp Pendleton/Oceanside/Carlsbad/Encinitas/Solana Beach/Torrey
Pines and 116 miles later we arrived. My lungs, legs and heart felt
fine but it was every other body part that felt a little achey. Hard
to estimate our MPH since there are so many stops and starts on
Pacific Coast Highway but the Pacific Ocean was beautiful and I don't
think I've seen so many surfers out.

I'm out riding every other day. Today we made our way via the San
Gabriel River Bed to Seal Beach to meet up with a group of "retirees"
that meet religiously for a cup of coffee at McD's in the middle of
their ride. I was happy to see 84 year old Scotsman Joe Meade who is
still going strong. He was a Scottish National champion and such a
character and what an amazing rider for his years; he really inspires
me. I've upped my swimming and running as the B2B will be here in
about 6 weeks. (Fernando and Mike, how is your training going?)

On Sunday, the 26th I'll be participating in the Komen Race for the
Cure with a million other people at Fashion Island in Newport Beach.
This will be the 6th year we've walked for my sis Kathy as she was
able to particpate the first four.

Please excuse my typos/grammar as I'm rushed. My parents have DIAL-UP
(I know) and I can be knocked off at any moment. I'm excited to ride
my new Torelli that is being built for me and I'll have next time you
all see me.
