Fall is here and with it comes cooler temperatures so get out and ride. Should be a really nice weekend. The rides: SATURDAY RIDE (10/2) (A/A- GROUP - Tony/Bert) MEETING PLACE: Ravenstone Plaza (Directions: http://www.raleighgyros.com/locations.htm) TIME: Saturday 10/2 @ 8:30am *(NEW START TIME) RIDE DISTANCE: 60 miles PACE: 20mph ROUTE: Three Churches CUE SHEET: http://www.raleighgyros.com/cue_sheets.htm NOTES: There will be hills where the climbers will be allowed to stretch their legs. OTHER NOTES: This one is important - WE RIDE AND WORK TOGETHER AS A GROUP. We encourage county line sprints. We DO NOT wait for dropped riders so look at the map and/or cue sheets to figure out where you are. We DO stop for mechanicals. (A- GROUP - Kim/Ed/Paddy) Same as Above (B GROUP - Leslie/Diana) Information to come SUNDAY RIDE (10/3): 1. Kim's Recovery Ride MEETING PLACE: Blue Jay Point (Directions: http://www.raleighgyros.com/locations.htm) TIME: Sunday 10/3 @ 9am *(NEW START TIME) DISTANCE: 38 miles PACE: 17-18mph (This is a CONTROLLED PACE) 2. Mike's Gyro Touring Ride MEETING PLACE: Blue Jay Point (Directions: http://www.raleighgyros.com/locations.htm) TIME: Sunday 10/3 @ 8:30 am DISTANCE: 30 miles ROUTE: TBD PACE: 14-16mph - No drop but you MUST be able to maintain the minimum pace. MONDAY RIDE (10/4): Hal's Ride is CANCELLED FOR THE SEASON TUESDAY RIDE (10/5): 1. Rick's Ride is CANCELLED FOR THE SEASON 2. (B GROUP - Joel/Shane) is CANCELLED FOR THE SEASON WEDNESDAY (10/6): 1. Andy's Training Ride is CANCELLED FOR THE SEASON 2. Tony's "Easy Rider" Training Ride *(LIGHTS ARE MANDATORY). We will meet at my house instead of Shady Grove Church. MEETING PLACE: Tony's House (5220 Calverton Drive in Harrington Grove Subdivision) MAP: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=4059806 TIME: Wednesday 10/6 @ 6pm *(NEW START TIME) DISTANCE: 22-25 miles (The end of this ride will be HILLY!) PACE: 16-17mph - NO drop but you MUST be able to maintain the minimum pace. THURSDAY (10/7): Dave's Ride is CANCELLED FOR THE SEASON All ride locations can be found on our website @ http://www.raleighgyros.com/locions.htm THE PLAN: One or more groups will leave with the intent of riding as a group at a target pace. We will try to cover the same routes, albeit a shorter distance for the slower group, so if you're struggling or want to ride at an easier pace, you can move back to a slower group. If you're already in the slowest group, the ride leader will check to make sure you can make your way back alone or with another volunteer. You'll know within the first 7 miles whether or not you're strong enough to maintain the pace. The general rule is that you should be able to maintain at least a 19+mph pace for the A Group, 18mph pace for 40-50 miles with the B+ Group or a 16mph pace for 30-40 miles with the B Group, when considering which group to ride with. If you can not maintain these paces, then it is suggested that you consider the C/B- Sunday ride. (Please refer to the link above). Each group should make a concerted effort to keep the group together but there will always be those who want to pick up the pace on the return. It is more appropriate to do this the last 5-7 miles of a ride. The short hammer sessions, that are always inevitable during our rides, will not be affected.
