Guys, A lot of you asked me today if our ride was still on. The answer is a resounding YES! I did mention this at the rest stop today but for those that were not on our ride, here are the specifics:
We leave Saturday morning 10/23 @ 7am. Meeting place is KOHL'S at Brier Creek. The plan is to drive to Pilot Mountain, (there is parking with a visitors station at the base), leave from there to Sauratown, then to Hanging Rock and then back to Pilot. They call these 3 Humps. What's nice about these climbs is that they are up and down. If, for any reason, you have bonked and your legs have given out or you've cracked and thrown in the towel or your pucking at the side of the road and just can't go any further, you can just turn around and head back down to the base. We regroup after every climb. Total ride distance is about 56 miles. We will NOT be having dinner on the way back. I need to return to Raleigh as soon as possible as I have plans that evening. I know others need to get back too. So, after we ride, we return home. The weather prediction at this time is sunny and 65 degrees. Should be an excellent day in the mountains. This is the lastest list I had from a month ago. Some guys have already told me they can't make it while others have told me they are going. Please let me know if you are out, in or if you'd like to join us. We'll plan the driving logistics later in the week. Btw, this is not a hammerfest. We ride together as a group to each hump, then and only then, does it become every man for himself.
