The shortest ride for them is also 200k. For it to be an official ride you
must complete it within the time limit specified. At each Rest Stop/Control
you have to have a card stamped with the time you were there and then submit
the card to the owner of the route. The ride is then logged in Paris to be
cemented in history forever. I should mention - to be able to do these
rides you have to join their group and pay a yearly membership fee. The
group also goes at different paces and typically does not stay together for
the whole ride. The idea is you should be able to complete the ride solo.
Usually the group does not stop for mechanicals or nature breaks. People
regroup at the controls/rest stops.

It is a French word meaning "self contained adventure rider" The classic
example of a randonee' would be Paris - Brest - Paris, the 1200 km non
stop, day and night race held every 4 years in France.

Your bike has to be equipped with fenders, lights, and a little bell. Very
high on bike etiquette, the French.

Hey Tony: I plan to go by the Trek store this week and take care of
business. I was looking at the membership form and under the type of riding
question there is "Randondeuring" is this a German word? I have never heard
of such word.

Take care,

Fernando

Just a friendly reminder that when you receive or pick up your kit, whether
it be at the store or at a ride, it would be nice to hand in your membership
form too. I assume that if you are picking up a jersey/bib, that you plan
on joining the club. What's the point anyway, if you have it and are not a
member?

I've attached a form for your convenience.

Tony
