In the first scam, hackers send e-mails with phony tracking numbers, claiming that there is a problem with delivery of merchandise. The e-mail tells shoppers to open an attachment to print out a delivery label. But upon opening the attachment, the computer is infected with malware. The second scam involves the use of e-cards containing links to websites that can install viruses on the shoppers' computers. The BBB advises shoppers to be on the lookout for these types of scams and be particularly wary of e-mails containing grammatical errors, unfamiliar names or that seem to be from a third party representing a company.
