it is an approximately 1.5mi figure 8 loop thru a neighborhood off Norwood / Victory Church, I believe called "Hawthorne" (about miles 8-9 on the attached gmap). It encompasses a short very steep climb up Mountabatten beginning under (I believe) the only covered bridge in Raleigh. It can be done in various permutations, but I was planning on N.Hawthorne / R. Warwickshire / R. N. Hawthorne / L. Wharton's Way / L. Mountbatten / L. N. Hawthorne and repeat (until your legs give out or you throw up). Rumor has it, that if you do this repeatedly you can climb like Tony or Steve. Hasn't worked for me yet, though. Probably just Gyro folklore.
