If nylon is acceptable, Nyvalour is a nice choice:

The best US source I have found is Ribbons and Bows Oh My (RABOM), unless
you're a wholesale ribbon distributor yourself and can order directly from
Morex:
https://ribbonandbowsohmy.com/velvet-ribbon

RABOM stocks many of the available colors, and four of the available widths (up
to 1.5"),  Other colors are available by special order —I've never asked about
widths, but... maybe?
*** They happen to be having a 30% sale TODAY ONLY! ***

Hope that helps!Dede _________________________

oh, oh! what a wonderful question!

I've been looking for velvet ribbon to repair the edges of a beloved blanket
for just ages! My mother put on the current edging well over 40 years ago, and
I have been looking for quite a while! Sure hope someone's got some sources!
Ribbon needs to be around 3 inches wide to cover both sides of the edge. And
maybe 6 yards, to do both the top and bottom edge. Blanket has a short, fuzzy
surface on both sides; BOTH the old and new blankets were the exact same pale
yellow color!

I think my mother probably went into her quilting scraps for the material
that's on the blanket now; there's no real selvedge and she zig-zagged both
sides down. This light brown velvet is lovely soft stuff, as soft and nice as
the blanket itself. Has only started showing breakdown along the fold in the
last few years.
