The reason the lace is all over the family room is that my sewing room
already looks like a book explosion. We bought a large house to have
room for all the books to be out, then I kept buying more books, and I'm
running out of room for them already. The books are in alphabetical
order by category. The sewing room only has costume and sewing books,
and other kinds are in the other rooms. Then after category, they are
organized by the author's last name.
I don't have the patience to keep a database for my stuff. The fabric
has its own storage room (plus a little in the sewing room and a little
in the clothing storage room). Otherwise, it's in printer paper boxes
with labels like "striped cottons" on the sides. The boxes are lined
with acid free tissue paper. Good enough for me and better than before
we moved.
My husband has really gotten into DIY home repairs and yard work since
we moved, though winter is making those tasks harder. And he is cooking
a lot, making baba ganoush at this very moment.
We have all kinds of tasks saved up for after we get a vaccine--my
estimate is that will be next fall. Two bathroom remodeling jobs we put
on hold (Arts & Crafts style tile and cabinets), buying a mattress, and
going to the dentist.
Best,
Fran

Ah, I make huge messes like that! This past year I inventoried all my
fabric, put everything in numbered bags and shelves and put it in a
database. Its pretty reliable, but I am still searching for a few
pieces of silk I put away.
