I forget if I mentioned this or not, but getting a long slash by putting one right after the other works, although it does tend to have a little jag where they meet--once the slash is properly fulled (by washing & tumble drying), this shouldn't be a problem. But if using a fabric which cannot be washed, this might be an issue.
I plan on doing this on suede, so of course it won't get washed or fulled! But I don't want very long slashes anyway, and I think they make woodworking chisels long enough for what I want.
