but I was alway taught at college not to use seam rippers for slashes andbuttinholes, as it takes extreme care to avoid going further than intended.(that said, I never had that problem.)
I was taught the opposite in my sewing books :-) They tell to just put a needle at the end of the slit to make sure you don't cut too far. _______________________________________________
