When I walked up & down Oak Tree Rd (Edison/Islin, NJ) there were lots
of stores --Granted this was two summers ago, but I got silks and
cottons --bargain with the sales staff --"Is this the best you can do?"
are great words that I learned from my hubby. There was also a lot of
polyester mixed in. I'm sure it's not as large an area as Jackson
Heights, but it's a lot closer for me.

addresses please!!!!!

All I can find is 'Little India' in Islin, NJ. And most of those stores
sell the VERY high prices stuff, and polyester stuff.

I am looking for more choli's in cotton - not that nasty polyester or
knit.

That certainly depends on where you live. I recently moved from Jackson
Heights (Queens County, New York City), after almost 30 years there.
The place is often referred to as "Little India" and traditional clothes
are pretty common except for the kids, who mostly dress like the other
kids. The heavy shopping strip consists of: sari/salwar suit store,
restaurant, jewelry store, video store, appliance store, repeat, repeat,
repeat. The wedding stuff is just amazing.
Sundays are the best, when the adult women break out their best saris
and kameezes to go out to eat. The fabric and embroidery are to die
for.
