I was annoyed by the "pantyhose", too. Also the term
"petticoat" referred to what we now call a skirt, and later became a
term more specific for underwear.
Much of the article was good, but those things really stood out.
I have a knee-kerk response to that whole "chained to the knee" thing,
although to be fair the author did at least indicate that it wasn't how most
people wore their shoes.
