Wow, how to choose?!  The V & A costume collection is quite awesome.  So
if you want to see actual clothing, that is the place.

I also really enjoyed the National Portrait Gallery.  Seeing the paintings
of the Tudors and whatnot that you have only seen in books before is quite
an experience.  And you discover new things by being able to stick your
nose right up to them.  For example, I never realized that the embroidery
on Mary Tudor's dress was redwork!

For budget places to sleep, I used the Rick Steve's travel book.  He had a
series on public television called Travels in Europe that was great.  He
tells you interesting, off the path places to go and gives ideas on good
budget place to sleep that aren't dumps.
