My first thought was that this was based on that "How Green Was My Valley"
movie from the 40s. For a split second there, I was trying to figure out
how on earth that could possibly be turned into a reality series... "And
Ronald has survived the longest in the coal mine without getting gastric
cancer! He wins a brand new Kia Sportage!"
Does the show have a website? I looked on the BBC website but according to
their search engine, the show doesn't exist.
