I don't think that you'll find long busks for much cheaper than these two, unless you buy in bulk. ;-}

Pre-cut, pre-capped spiral boning

More pre-cut, pre-capped spiral boning at pretty reasonable prices - not quite AUS$12.00/dozen for the very longest ones -

MOST EXCITING OF ALL! **** 1/2" wide **** pre-cut, pre-tipped spiral boning, up to 18" long, also at pretty reasonable prices -

I so know what you mean about cutting the boning yourself - I made two corsets with Farthingales 50-8406-06 plastic-coated Hoop Steel - white 6mm(1/4")6mm wide X .6mm thick - which had to be cut with bolt cutters, the ends trimmed into something roughly resembling a curve, and tipped with elastoplast then tooldip, because at that stage they didn't have hoopsteel tips. The trimming left *lots* of little sharp metal bits which were not good to stand on with bare feet. Not something I want to have to do again.

I understand why people don't like to cut boning of any kind, but so often I find that the bones I need are not exactly the same length as I can buy commercially, so it is easier, for me, as I have been doing it for so long, to cut them to the size I want. But the invention of metal tips, now I have the hang of them, is brilliant.

I just wish that British and American hoop steel makers would get together and rationalize their sizes, then I could use the joining widgets that Farthingales sells on all my hoops! (And before anyone suggests I buy my steel from Farthingales, I can get it far cheaper and more easily locally, if you include postage, and man is a roll of steel heavy!!)
