I recentlyl read this book about ladies in waiting. It was OK. It was
really about who they were, rather that what they did.
(I need to know this, because my alter ego is Dappert, the dissolute ladies
maid to an earls daughter. This helps us in Rev War 'cause then we have an
excuse to interpret another social class (high, middle, low, we have then all
in his majesties 64th of foot.) And the visitors seem to like discussing the
difference in dress and status evident bewtween the nobility and the
washerwomen)
