I have a light table and I love it. I use it for all sorts of things, and
yes, it would be wonderful for transferring your embroidery
patterns. I also use it for tracing my flat patterns and checking that
seams match and notches line up. It's also helpful when I have draped a
pattern and want to transfer it to paper. I also use it for the obvious
re-drawing croquis.
My advice would be to purchase as large a light box as you can
afford. Mine is the same as the type used to view hospital x-rays and is
roughly the size of a legal size page. I always wish it was
larger something about 40 cm x 50 cm or larger would be ideal.
