<<<< I need the bodice to be low-cut to allow me to cool down.>>>>

* Low cut does not necessarily mean cooler.

I've seen a child's dress at
http://www.marquise.de/en/1500/pics/1542_1.shtml which is similar to
http://www.marquise.de/en/1500/pics/1540_1.shtml and wondered if it
possible to make this for an adult?

* These are Florentine. Here are more pictures.

<<<Last night I drafted up a bodice
from Jean Hunnisett and today I washed some green cotton-cum-polycotton
brocade (from the curtain section of our local Spotlight store). Would
it work in a brocade or should I use silk?>>

*Silk is an insulator so for coolness the cotton/poly is better. 100% cotton
or even better 100% linen would be my recommendation for the chemise.

<<<Other images I like are:

*This is French

<<<http://www.marquise.de/en/1600/pics/1610_1.shtml >>>>>

*Italian. The painting is just outside of SCA period but:

These are working class garments and probably not something that would have
been worn to a ball. Now a festive gathering, maybe.

<<<And I've just found this sketch that looks ideal -
http://www.davidclaudon.com/Elizabethan/female.jpg as a gown from 1575 -
I'm wearing this gown in a few weeks time to a Midsummer Night's Dream
Ball, but am wanting it to fit within the SCA period for when I might go to
their events.

Many thanks, Aylwen>>>>

*The are a few flaws in the design. It appears to have a section sewn into
the skirt instead of a forepart. The bodice is a different color from the
rest of the gown. Now you can make this and still wear it to an SCA event as
in their bylaws it basically says an attempt at period garments, not full
blown authentic recreations. This allows one to participate while working
towards more "period" garments. (If that is the person joining's field of
interest.)
Recommend if you can afford it for future Elizabethan gowns

If you are interested in "Italian" perhaps something from Venice

How this helps some. Good Luck and hope you have fun at the ball.
