I didn't really get any this year, and haven't yet received my Secret Santa
present from the list exchange. I got lots of other very nice things,
though...several kinds of chocolate, a nice teapot, cat toys for my kitties,
a historical cookbook, etc.
Oh, wait....I did buy myself a kit from Philosopher's Wool for a Fair Isle
Cardigan. Luscious, luscious colors...mmmm....Not "costume," but definitely
clothing, if that counts. And my sister's MiL sent me a hand-dyed silk
scarf from Bejing.
I gave a couple of textile-related things as gifts--one friend got a small
purse done in a fair isle pattern (knitted), and my BiL got a seaman's scarf
(knitted). My SiL, Beth, who is the other knitter in the family, is getting
handspun yarn from me for her projects.
Oh, ack, wait....I actually *did* get something costume-related. A friend
gave me some wood-carving tools. I'm wanting to learn how to do basic
pewter casting, so I can make my own buttons for fitted gowns, and maybe
some pilgrims' badges, and you can use the carving tools to carve your stone
molds.
