HI NANCY!!! This is Becky Rautine. I'm in the same costuming discussion group. I just saw your post and recognized your name. Maybe I need to just ask you these questions. You'd be my expert... and within reach of my home. I will share my sketch of the dress as soon as I get it into the computer. I'd appreciate any advice you can give a beginner. I'm very good at the sewing and stitchery, but the period costumes are new to me. I'm making a Mother Hinger costume for my daughter's ballet this next Christmas. Any suggestions? It's a robe a la francaise type like Marie Antoinette puffy one. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Subject: [h-cost] "twice-turned dress"

Martha Cratchet, in "A Christmas Carol", is said to be wearing a
"twice-turned dress." This term is new to me. Does anyone know what it means? Thanks.

Nancy
