I think they are designed by/for the same groups that appreciate 'anime'.
Mostly reminds me of the 60' big-eyed waifs on velvet stuff...

Not sure why these dolls appeal to me (other than the fact they are 
jointed in 23 differnt places!) the are kind of odd.
