Thanks for that description. I've never made sleeves like these and that helps me to understand how they are placed on the arm. The chemise in is the sleeve, but not the seen white fabric. That is another fabric in the sleeve. The bell shaped ones attach to the bodice and the funnel ones attach above the elbow, from what you said and other tips received. Is this the way it should be done? If not, how? Do you think I could slip stitch or lace them together so that they stay in place as one unit? ----- Original Message ----- From: "otsisto" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

The chemise has sleeves that end in cuffs with ruffles. The white puffs that
you see on the false sleeve (gold sleeve) are not a part of the chemise
sleeve but pieces of white material sewn to look like it is the sleeve of
the chemise. The false sleeve is usually made to go just past the elbow or
further.

So you think that the whole sleeve unit was connected since the chemise does
not go all the way down to the wrist? I didn't see any ruff at the wrist,
but I don't have a detail of that more than a general whole portrait. I can
see some of the details but not too much. It gets fuzzy when I zoom in too
close.
